The Plan – developing great athletes and even better people

In its simplest form, the program plans are designed to facilitate the development of strong skiing technique, ancillary and tactical competency, fitness, athleticism and confidence. It is simply the best way to improve your skiing.

Here’s a brief overview:
• Technical – strong fundamentals + athleticism on skis
• Tactical – basic knowledge of turn shapes, speed control and speed maintenance/acceleration
• Physical – suppleness, strength (joint stability) and athleticism (physical literacy)
• Mental – focus (pre-run planning), reflection, goal setting
• Ancillary – tuning, recovery

Philosophy:
• Create dynamic learning environments that enhance fun and camaraderie
• Encourage participation, interaction and independence
• Foster the development of athleticism through age appropriate developmental focuses
• Passion… nurture passion for ski racing and athleticism
• Provide challenge and professionalism
• Refine strong fundamentals


Training on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season, with mid-week add-on days.

7:30am-9.30am – AM session 1
9.30am – breakfast break
10.00am-11.30am – AM session 2
11:30am – lunch break
12:30pm-3.30pm – PM session

Drop-in training:
Drop-in training is always available. Advance notice is required; please contact jeff@mhrs.org.au with your request, preferably a minimum of seven (7) days in advance to ensure that we are able to make the necessary arrangements, particularly in reference to coach scheduling.

Perisher / Bluecow Masters

Blue Cow Masters:
A popular program ideal for those who want to enjoy their skiing in a friendly environment. The focus is on free-skiing to take your skills to the next level in a fun and relaxed environment. Locker room facilities are available at Blue Cow, lockers at a seasonal hire cost of $50.

Ability: An intermediate skiing standard is recommended (minimum Level 5, can ski parallel on all intermediate/blue terrain).

Program Cost: Early Sign-up: $693 After 11 June: $793

Duration: 9 Sundays, casual training participation will depend on availability, please check with our office in advance for further information

Program Schedule: 27 June; 4 July; 18 July; 25 July; 1 August; 8 August; 15 August; 22 August; 29 August.

Additional training days:
If you enjoy your training and would like to add some training days to your existing program or join the Mountain Racers on Saturday, please advise your coach and contact the Winter Sports Club office. Minimum number of participants will apply, for full program members only.
Daily cost: $77

Masters - Alpine Race Camp

Three-day intensive race training in all disciplines - Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G. Video analysis and timed training runs will give you the edge for your next Masters race and your technical freeskiing will improve in all conditions. Hone your racing skills prior to the Perisher and Thredbo Masters races.

Program Cost: $400 (includes 3 days)
Program Members only: $210 (includes 3 days, add on to full Masters programs)
Dates: Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 August

Masters - Casual Participation Day:
If you cannot commit to a full program and would like to drop in to one of our Masters programs, please contact the Winter Sports Club office. Casual training participation will depend on availability and prior notice is required.
Daily cost: $100

Thredbo Masters
Masters Training - Level 7 - 8

There's no-one faster than a Thredbo Master, well that's what the Thredbo Masters tell us! Thredbo Snow Sports Masters training has groups that focus on racing the gates and there are also more technical sessions that explore a wider variety of snow conditions, with a focus on technique to guide you through the challenges of the mountain.

Starting mid July and run over eight Saturdays, the two or three hour sessions provide you with the skills to compete in the Masters Race weekend, or there are groups with more of a technical focus. Choose from the 7am to 9am or 9.30am to 12.30pm sessions. Bookings are essential for the early morning session.

In addition to these Saturday morning sessions, join Tim Robertson and his team of trainers on the legendary 5 day Masters Race Program. One will start on August 9 and the second starts on August 16, 7am to 1pm.

    The program includes:
  • 7am race training
  • Video analysis
  • Off snow sessions covering:
    - Ski maintenance
    - Race technique
    - Equipment
