About AMSA

AMSA was created to give Masters Ski Racing a National Idenity, provide representation for masters skiers, help promote and develope ski racing in Australia.

AMSA runs the annual Australian Masters Championships. The championships consist of three races: Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G. These races are run to FIS standards on technical and challenging courses.

This year sees the introduced of a new competition to find our Australian Male and Female Champions, in each of the disciplines: SL, GS and SG.  Points can be accumulated by competing in races in both NSW and Victoria. (See elsewhere for details). I encourage members to embrace this new racing series.

International Competition:

The International Masters Cup [FMC] is governed by the International Ski Federation [FIS] and it is the preferred competition level for the best Masters racers in the world. The program is primarily based in Europe and also includes annual FIS Masters competitions in South America and North America. Canada hosted the 2007 FIS-MC event in Stoneham, Quebec and will also host the 2008 FIS-MC at Mount Norquay, Banff, Alberta on March 6-7-8-9, 2008 which includes 2 GS and 2 SL. FIS ski length and radius regulations are recommendations only at Masters FIS events including Mount Norquay.

The FIS Masters World Criterium [WCM] is the Masters most important annual event including one SG, one GS and one SL. Participation is open to all Masters who hold valid Masters FIS competitor cards from their respective National Ski Organizations. The 2008 WCM is scheduled for March 31-April 4 at Pichl/Reiteralm, Austria.
